As you know, a library is a wonderful place to find fabulous books to read. We have magazines and DVDs available for check-out, too. Did you know that the library is also a source of information on a wealth of other services? We have four public access computers, which can be used for word processing or for searching the internet for FREE (thanks to KanOkla Networks!). On-line tutoring is available by getting a Kansas Library Card, which is also FREE. This program is sponsored by the State of Kansas, and all you need is a driver’s license for us to issue a card to you.
Our computers are used frequently to check e-mail, put items on eBay or Craig’s List, and look up various websites, including some pertaining to day lilies (you know who you are!) and others regarding the value of old records or magazines. Of course, Facebook and Twitter are accessed all the time! The librarian can assist you with obtaining information about a variety of topics, including applying to on-line schools, completing scholarship applications, and researching state and federal refund or assistance programs.
Another service we offer is proctoring tests for students taking on-line classes. The Library has wireless capability, so patrons can bring in their own laptop computers, or use the one owned by the library. Tests can be taken in one of the enclosed rooms, offering quiet and privacy.
The Library Board of Directors and its staff and volunteers have been so gratified by the community’s support of our new library. It’s great to be on Main Street! We’re open on Mondays from 10 am – 6 pm and on Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 am – 2 pm.
