Kids of all ages: come sign up for “One World, Many Stories,” this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Caldwell Public Library! Story Times will take place on Fridays in Jun3 (June 3, June 10, June 17, and June 24) from 10 am – 11 am. Seniors-to-be Mary Lebeda and Trenton Neal will be our reading assistants this summer. Come for books, crafts, puppet shows and more.
We will also host a fabulous performer from Oklahoma – Singer/Songwriter Monty Harper – thanks to a donation from Dr. Small and Dr. Walker. Monty Harper will be at the library on Wednesday, July 13th at 2 pm and all ages (young and old) are invited!
Be thinking about what you want your reading goal to be. We’ll have a race between teams to see which group reads the most books between May 18 and July 15. Sign-up begins the day school ends so we hope to see you soon!
On Saturday, April 16th, the Caldwell Public Library hosted a wonderful gathering of over 50 family and friends to celebrate the life of Tad Melichar. We were blessed to view photos of Tad’s many worldwide trips, including a DVD of his trip to Africa. We were also treated to refreshments (sugar cookies shaped like hiking boots!) and a chance to see some of the books donated by REI in Tad’s memory. Rod Cook was on hand to show off our “new” DVDs of old Caldwell newspapers, which were made possible by memorial money given for Tad.
Pictured above is Isabella Scavuzzo (Tad’s niece from Kansas City) in the new reading corner at the library (behind the Inspirational Section).
The Caldwell Public Library held its official Grand Opening on Saturday, October 17, 2009. About 75 alumni and Caldwell residents came to check out our new location and enjoy refreshments.
The Board of Directors and Librarian Lisa Moreland greeted visitors. It was great to see the positive reactions to the new library, especially the History Room. Thank you to everybody who helped make our move possible.
