Dig Into Reading – Summer Reading Program
“Dig into Reading,” the summer program at the public library, has started! Mark your calendars NOW for a special musical performance by Singer/Songwriter Alan Cunningham from Kansas City: come to the Library Friday, June 14th at 10:00 AM. The Library will also hold Story Times throughout the months of June and July. Story Times geared for grades K-5 will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday June 7th; Friday June 21st; Friday July 5th; and Friday July 19th. Story Times geared for ages 0-5 will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday June 12th; Wednesday June 26th; Wednesday July 10th; and Wednesday July 24th. Older students are encouraged to bring their younger relatives or friends to the Story Times on Wednesdays. Two employees from Futures Unlimited in Wellington will lead these sessions, so we are hoping for especially good turn-outs!
Come sign up for summer reading any time the Library is open (Mondays from 10 AM – 6 PM and Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 AM – 2 PM). Students will set their own summer goals and when they turn in their reading charts, they will be given play money to “buy” prizes. In addition, we have another reading incentive program at the Library this year. Summer readers can fill up a special bookmark with FIVE stickers to receive a pool toy at our end-of-summer pool party. You can earn a sticker by coming to any Story Time or by checking out five or more books at one time. You will receive TWO stickers if you attend the special Story Time on Friday, June 14! This performance by Alan Cunningham is sponsored by Dr. Harold Small and by the South Central Kansas Library System.
